Aspen University is a nationally-accredited, distance learning university located in the United States that was established in 1987. Aspen University grew from the International Academy created in the 1960s. During the next two decades, the academy provided education in information management. In 1987, the Academy established the Information Institute focused on emerging information technologies.
Aspen University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency, and is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Aspen University's master of science in nursing (MSN) program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
